Sonya Bethea
For over twenty years, Sonya Bethea has worked with a variety of organizations leading talent management strategies, spearheading diversity initiatives, and implementing leadership development programs. These organizations include United Technologies, Exxon Research and Engineering, and MCI Telecommunications. She has unique experience in effecting change and implementing infrastructures for learning, in organizations ranging from Fortune 100 to grass-roots initiatives.
As National Manager of Human Resources for the Lockheed Martin’s Transportation and Security business, Ms. Bethea led the human capital planning effort associated with the acquisition of the biometrics business. This led to a new line of business and a significant increase in sales and future market potential. She also implemented a talent management approach with linkages to succession planning, to company strategy and milestones, and to competencies that balanced results against the means needed to achieve them.
Ms. Bethea is the former National Thought Leader for Career Development and Diversity for Reuters America. She created the strategy to heighten diversity awareness through education, selection and development approaches, and the identification of connections between productivity and performance of the individual and the organization.
Ms. Bethea has served on the advisory boards for several regional and national non-profit organizations, including the African American Leadership Forum (AALF) and the National Association of Former Foster Care Children of America (NAFFCCA).
